Loose Threads: My Dear Jane

My Dear Jane

Today I sewed the last of the outside borders on my Dear Jane quilt.  Now I have to decide whether to hand quilt her or have her machine quilted.  Either way I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Here are just some random photos of groups of blocks that I took. The green circle block is called Indianapolis.  Papa's Star right below is one of the more difficult blocks IMHO.

The one in the center below is Nan's Niiad.  We call her Nasty Nan because of how hard she is to do.  Some quilters leave her out and substitute another block.

Here are a few of the triangles.  When you are making this quilt don't save all of the triangles until last.  Ask me how I know.
I hope you are finding some time to stitch today.

Wow, what an amazing accomplishment. Hand quilting would give you lots of time to admire your handiwork. Do you have another major quilt in mind for your next project? Midget blocks are a lot of fun.

Your Dear Jane is gorgeous! Oh, I know the pain (and the glory! LOL) of putting her together. I've got my triangle borders ready to go on (although I only did plain fabric triangles -- no piecing or appliqueing for me because I plan to hand-quilt the designs on those triangles)...gotta find time to do it! Scroll down on my blog to see mine, and thanks sooo much for sharing yours!
Blessings,
Mary Lou

Yea, LuAnn!

Congratulations!!

You put me to shame! I am looking forward to seeing the quilt and you crowned in the DJ Goddess Tiara in November!

If it were my DJ quilt I would hand-quilt it, but there again you know me I hand applique, hand-quilt and hand-piece, so what else would I suggest :-))

best wishes

Love the Dear Jane quilt....I've been wanting to do one myself, but I'm trying to be very good and finish all the projects I have start already or at least get the quilt tops done first before starting a new project.

Great Job on the quilt!

That quilt is so beautiful....you are quite talented! I am very new at quilting, but I have been sewing almost all of my life. I can't wait to see it completed!

What a beautiful DJ quilt! I love the darker background fabric you used....it really makes the blocks "pop"....

Uh oh I haven't been making my triangles along with my blocks on my JanieBright that I'm working on now...I know I should, but they just don't thrill me like the little blocks.

Way to go, LuAnn. Your Dear Jane is so beautiful! Please tell me you heard drums beating and horns blowing and some quilting celebrity was at your front door to offer you the keys to the quilting kingdom when you finished your last stitches. That is only thing that is keeping me motivated to continue mine. I know there is some special prize at the end. Right???
