I'm Having A Blue Day

Well, ok...I'm not really blue...at least not that kind of blue.  But, it seems most everything I took photos of for this blog post turned out to be blue.

My daughter is here visiting for her spring break from Purdue, so I haven't spent a lot of time in the sewing room this week because we have been having a good time.  But, I did sew a couple of hexagon flowers for One Flower Wednesday.
I usually try to do two flowers because I almost never get my one flower posted on Wednesday.  At least that's how I rationalize it.  One Flower Wednesday is hosted by Karen over at Journey of a Quilter.  Thanks Karen.

The fabrics in these two hexagons are from an old...really old...line called Cocheco.  I loved this fabric line and bought quite a lot of it.
My brother-in-law came over on Monday night with this plate that he brought back awhile ago from one of our sisters-in-law that lives out in Colorado.  She is always sending me the neatest quilt related things.  I just love it!

The last few weeks I have been on a Stromboli kick.  I saw a recipe and some photos on another blog and gave it a try.  Everyone here loved it, and it has become a weekend staple here the last several weekends.  I just buy frozen bread dough and take out 2 loaves and let them raise.  I roll them out and put pizza sauce, fried Italian sausage, pepperoni, parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, shredded mozarella and then roll them up and bake.  If anyone wants a tutorial, let me know because I'll be making it again tomorrow and can take photos.  This photo is NOT stromboli.  We just wondered what a loaf of that frozen bread would do if we let it raise in a bread pan and then baked it like it was intended.  Here it is, and it tasted as good as it looks.
Hope you are all finding some time to do a bit of stitching today.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!!

  6. Stromboli sounds like such a good idea for a rainy day like today. I always have one of those loaves in the freezer but forget I have it there.
Your flowers are cute! I wish I had gotten some of that Cocheco line when it came out. It's beautiful.

Your works are beautiful. I'm still making very primitive blocks.

  8. Reading your post made me hungry!
Also made me want to pull out the hexies! I got a little bored with them, but I think it is time to get them going again!
Glad you are only blue, and not actually *blue*! Enjoy having your girl home. I've got my boy home for the weekend. He looks strange, he has a spring break beard!

  12. Love how you fussy cut those little hexies for your flowers. We make the Rhodes frozen bread a lot. We let it rise in the pan, and if it gets too high (when we leave it out overnight, we sometimes punch it down and bake it as is. It looks sort of ugly, bu it tastes great, because the bread is more dense. Hope you and your daughter have fun on break!

  15. Great blue flowers and the plate is pretty too. I'm surprised no one asked for the tutorial that you suggested. I love stromboli and would like a tutorial if you have the time. Also, what kind of bread dough is it? I think I'm going to have to start the hexie flowers. I've done alot of hexies in the past and put a few things together but not lately. I'll check on Karen's blog and get more info.Have a great week!
