Paducah Trip: More Day 1

My post yesterday that said Day 2 actually happened the first day.  Those were all quilts made by ladies from the two churches where we ate lunch and dinner.  After lunch we went to the National Quilt Museum.  There were no photos allowed so I took a photo of the outside.  I did buy a book on the miniature quilts on display there which are amazing.
After the museum, we went to the Rotary.  There were a few antique quilts there plus the Hoffman challenge quilts and, of course, there were vendors.  I think this hexagon basket quilt was one of my favorites.  This quilt is c. 1940 and was hand pieced and hand quilted.  The sign said there were thousands of hexagons in this quilt.

This hexagon bouquet quilt was another favorite.  This quilt is c. 1940 and was hand pieced, hand applique'd and hand quilted.

This was another gorgeous one called Morning Glory.  This quilt is also c. 1940 and hand pieced, hand applique'd and hand quilted.
A few more antique quilts.
Here are a few of the Hoffman Challenge quilts.

We were then off to the Eleanor Burns show at the Fairgrounds.  Her show was called Strips to Stars so she was dressed in an astronaut costume.

There was also a fabric tent/building for shopping....

And there was more shopping.   By the time we got to this point, most of us were on vendor overload.
Paducah, Kentucky is far enough south that their growing season is quite a bit ahead of ours here.  These are just some of the azaleas we saw.

After all of this we went back into Illinois to our hotel for the evening.  The next day was the quilt show.

Thanks for visiting!

  4. Thanks..I've been to Paducah, but in October, not May. Store was quiet, I shopped and wandered with very few people about. Everyone was cutting and filling orders...

Mr Roland Hancock checked me out at the cash register...
