Bow Ties.....Option B

After looking at my cheddar and repro bow tie blocks that I've started cutting and sewing for my Leader and Ender project, I decided to make a few using some brighter  fabrics.   The brights are made from 2 1/2" squares/strips and will finish at 4 inches.

Here are my cheddar bow ties.  They finish at 3 inches.

I kind of like both, but I'm still trying to finish some of my UFOs.  I'm  trying hard not to start too many new projects...even if they are going to be leader and ender projects.  You only need to sew 5 seams to make one of these blocks so they go together pretty quickly.

Which do you like best?

Hope you are finding some time to stitch today.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  1. I have to say I prefer the brights, they are so right down my alley. Cheddar is just not my color. Looking forward to how you use these.

  2. I adore them both but as Cheddar is totally my thing and I'm working on some Cheddary BTies myself, I'd have to go with the Cheddar (but only for those reasons) hee! ;) Warmly, *karendianne.

  3. Do I spy some Maypole in those new bow ties? I really love your bowties, both versions!

  4. I love the cheddar as something I would personally use, but I love the brights as something I would make for a girl's bed or a baby quilt--very fun. When I first saw the bright ones my thoughts went to summertime and picnics and I thought it would make a great picnic tablecloth or blanket. Then I envisioned ketchup and mustard stains and decided that was a lot of work to provide a canvas for hot dog and hamburger drippings. : )

  7. Oooo...I LOVE the brights! They are speaking to me today (or maybe that's because I've been hand stitching some repro baskets...). They look fresh and fun!

    In stitches,

  11. I love cheddar fabric in quilts, and brights are just as appealing to me, but I definitely prefer the brights here. I saw a blog where someone had a lot of her cheddar bowtie blocks together on her design wall, and it just didn't appeal to me. A little cheddar goes a long way. I was surprised that seeing it in every block seemed to be too much, but that's IMHO.
You're using some great fabrics, and either version is going to be great fun for you to make. Leaders and enders are our friends :)

  14. I like both versions. On the cheddar block I like the size, and the other one is very bright and happy.
