Retreating in Shipshewana

I arrived in Shipshewana, Indiana, late this afternoon a day ahead of the start of our Dear Jane Retreat.   The sewing room doesn't open up until 3 pm on Wednesday so what do we do until then?   We shop and visit our favorite places, eat our favorite foods, and visit with good friends.

I had just enough time to walk through Yoders Department Store this afternoon and take a few photos.

This quilt was hanging in the hallway between Yoders hardware and department store.   Hmmmm I think I bought this pattern here a couple of years ago.

Another pretty quilt.

This display is piled with the latest charm packs, jelly rolls and layer cakes with yardage below the table.

This is just a small fraction of the fabrics in Yoders.  The display on the right has Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas charm packs, layer cakes and jelly rolls.

There is beautiful yarn.

And more yarn to make ruffled scarves.

I always know I'm getting close to Shipshewana when I see the first horse and buggy.  Here are a few parked outside of Yoders this afternoon.

Tomorrow is more shopping until the sewing room opens.  I really am shopping from a list!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  12. What a pretty picture of the horse and buggies and the redbarn and windmill in the background. Would be a great postcard for the area.

  13. Yoder's looks like a fabulous store. You brave girl! Shopping from a list? I'd never try that. I'm such a wimp, when it comes to fabric shopping. I see, I buy -- especially if there's a sale price involved.
    Enjoy your quilting time!

  14. Hi LuAnn
Yoders looks like a great shop. Its got a bit of all sorts. Where abouts in the States is it. Shipshewana - is it near Pennsylvania- for those of us who live DownUnder? Looking forward to your Dear Jane Retreat photos.:-)

  15. I've not heard of the Dear Jane Retreat but after having looked at your pictures I think this will definitley go on my Bucket List. Oh my word, I've never see that many fabric stores in one place. if you have time, please tell me about it and I'll share with my sewing group. I live in North Alabama and I wonder how far of a drive it would be??
