Mr. and Mrs. Phebe

I was having dinner with a good friend last night, and she reminded me that I hadn't posted on my blog since June 11.  Not much has been going on here.  I had been sorting through things and shoving boxes and containers around.  When things are too heavy to lift, I tend to shove with my knees.  And, I ended up injuring one of my knees (my non-replacement knee).   It hurt to drive and to go up and down stairs (where my sewing room is), so there hasn't been a lot of sewing going on here.  The Dr. gave me a shot of some good medicine in the knee, and it is much, much better now.

I've pulled out my Phebe center and have been working on her again.  I've got to tell you, I have a lot of respect for anyone that has done these two little people that sit on either side of this vase.  Those pieces are really small.   I had the vase and stems done on another background and decided I didn't like it, so I've started over.  This is my progress so far.

These are two of the stars that go on the inner star border.  I chose the fabrics and made these about a month apart.  Looks like I really like these fabrics since I picked them out twice.  I've been cutting kits for the rest of the stars.

I'm heading out of town today to see two of my Aunts.  One is 101- the oldest resident of Fulton County, Indiana.  The other was 95 and just passed away, so I'm heading there to be with my cousins.

Hope you are finding some time to stitch today!

  1. I often have long breaks (yours wasn't very long, really) and find that life simply has other plans for me. I used to worry about not posting, then decided it was kind of silly to cause myself extra stress. Now, I post when I have something to say and don't worry about the dry spells.
Enjoy your visit with your family. :)

  2. Hope you're feeling better. Phoebe is going to be wonderful. My medallion quilt (for the guild) is done, just waiting on binding.

  3. I love the fabrics you've chosen for your Phoebe quilt. Even the green stems are all so beautiful. I like both star blocks-great use of color and value.

  4. Enlarging that center block gives a great view of your fabrics. What wonderful choices you have made--from the vase to the stems--the skirt, the jacket. I love it all!

  12. Hi LuAnn,
Your Phebe looks amazing already, it has the same flavour as the Original.
I just finished sewing the lady on my Phebe, and since this was my 2nd time doing so i was well prepared for the fiddly, highly annoying little pieces that are involved!
It really takes alot to get it done in that scale.

Your colours are so nice. I love it.
Have you seen ester's new BOM ?
Its already on my list ! :)

  13. Your block with the two little people is lovely, and I really like your stars. How funny you made them so close in fabric unknowingly. :-)

LOVE your applique block. It is amazing. I rememember when you first began this project!
Totally understand about long blog absences... it has been a bit over a month for me! Ouch. What with surgery and a family emergency... I sure have missed all the blogging. Glad to see you are up and running again. You have a fabulous blog!
