Soupcon Sew Along

Have you been sewing along with the Soupcon Sew Along over at Faeries and Fibres blog?   I saw one of these embellished English paper pieced blocks on several blogs, so I decided to go and check it out.  The finished quilt/wall hanging will be approximately 33", and there are only 6 clues.  This is my first block.

While I was searching my stash, I found this snowman print fabric and decided that I would make a second block.

I am a clue behind.  The next step has a circle that surrounds the block, and that is appliqued to a background square.  Here are my possibilities for both blocks.

We had another 8 inches of snow last Tuesday night and another inch last night, so on Monday I went out and bought the large box of glue sticks so I could keep English paper piecing through the storm.  I can hear you laughing......

I hope you are finding some time to stitch today!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  7. Your blocks are really eye catching - what fun!

Silly question - how wide of a point do those glue sticks have? I am going through the Sewline glue pen refills like water and know there must be a more inexpensive alternative. When you have over a thousand diamonds to do, the refills add up.

  8. I love both of those blocks! I can't wait to see your finished project!! I've discovered EPP but I've been thread basting mine. I worry about whether glue would make them too difficult to hand quilt??

  9. I love snowmen! It's a great year for snowmen I guess. I'm laughing over the glue sticks because everyone else would be stocking up on food. ;O
It's predicted that our area will have the 3rd all time snowiest winter on record. I'm thinking Indy is already close to the all time snowiest. Enjoy your time inside stitching!

    What does soupçon mean?
I wish we had some snow. We spent the Christmas in the north of Sweaden hoping to sea a great amount of snow and it didn't snow! it was the first time in 50 years that they didn't have snow during Christmas! and we chose that year to go... It was a pity! We wanted so much to play with the snow...
    A big hug

  19. I've been in the flicker page and your blocks are the best. Where did you get the embroidery pattern? It's so beautiful.... You are very good at it too! What stitches did you use' It makes the block even better.

    How many questions! sorry!
