Three Six Pointed Stars

Here are my latest six pointed stars.  These are 2 inches on a side (60 degree diamonds), and I started this sew along project along with Sheryl at Temecula Quilt Blog who is making one fussy cut star a week and posting it to her blog every Friday.

Here are the fabrics I used starting with the top left star.  This is from Amelia by Jo Morton for Andover.

This is the top right star and is also Amelia by Jo Morton.

This is Civil War Journals by Judie Rothermel for Marcus Fabrics.

Click here for the link to my blog post that shows how I fussy cut these stars and hexagons.  There is also a link under my blog header.

A Little Birthday Shopping

Yesterday I met a friend who shares my birthday at our local quilt shop, and we did a little stash enhancement to celebrate our special day.

I bought the Blackbird Designs book, Tending the Garden, and a few pieces of fabric for different projects that I either have planned or are already in the works.  When you shop on your birthday, you get half of your age discounted from your total purchase.  This is about the only time I can think that there is an advantage to being older.   The weather was beautiful, and it was a nice way to start a fun birthday.

I hope you are finding some time to stitch today!

Spring and a Hexagon

It's probably a little too early in the growing season here in the Midwest, but I bought a few annuals and planted the pot on my front porch.  The low temperatures are supposed to be close to freezing a few nights next week, but hopefully I can cover them and keep them going.

These flowers are called Ranunculus, and this is the first time I've grown these.  I think the blooms look a lot like roses.

I don't have much to show in the way of sewing, but here is a hexagon that I just finished.  These are 3/4".  I'm not sure where it will end up, but I like the pink and brown combination.

Fussy Cut Six Pointed Stars

I haven't been doing a lot of sewing lately, even though I've been busy.  Here is my latest Fussy Friday Star.  As you can see by the vine on my trellis, spring isn't here just yet.

The fabric I used in that star is Cottage Garden by Kaye England for Wilmington Prints.

Here are a few more that I made.  At this point I'm a bit behind, but I have a few more cut and ready to sew.

The fabric used in the top left star is Savannah by Jo Morton for Andover fabrics.

The other two are cut from English Pathways by Kaye England.

I hope you are finding some time to stitch today!
