Table Topper and Blocks

Hello Everyone  I've unpacked another box and wanted to show you what I've found.

This first photo is definitely a UFO.  This is just snowball blocks and nine patches with the light blocks of the nine patches in the "fives" position.  I think it will need some kind of a border.  I really don't have a memory of even making this......

I don't think the rest of these are technically UFOs.  I have a habit of wanting to make a pattern, and whenever I find what I think is the perfect fabric I put all of it together into a large baggie even if I've never taken a stitch.  What do you call these?  They aren't UFOs because there isn't anything started, right?  They aren't PIGS because they aren't really Projects in Grocery Sacks.  I guess these are just someday ideas.....

Here are part of my Elegant Garden patterns by Edyta Sitar with some fabric in a bag.

The rest of the patterns and this one block were in a notebook.  I should really finish this quilt because I like the one block that I finished.  Maybe I will do just one block each month.

I think this was a block of the month.  I have all of the appliqued block kits for Old Voices New Impressions by Jeana Kimball.   What you see in the photo is about as much as I have finished.

These are all of my printed Sally Post blocks.  These can be found at Sentimental Stitches  I have all of the patterns and the fabric in this bag.  I haven't started this project yet. Gay has a lot of great things over on her web site!

Here is another plan.  Antique Sampler by Sue Daley.  I have my focus fabric and background in a bag with the pattern.  Nothing started here either.

Another box unpacked.  I'm getting closer to the end.  I've stopped in between unpacking to sew a little.  I'll show you that in another post.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Hope you are finding some time to stitch this weekend.

  5. If all you did was set aside fabric for a potential project it is not a UFO! All your projects look like fun.

  6. You certainly won't lack having something to always work on LOL. Some real beauties there.

  7. I have the same thing going on here! A whole lot of planned projects that I've pre-kitted!!! Occasionally I'll pull a fabric from one of these 'kits' to use for a new project - which creates a whole new bag of problems! :) One of MY UFO's is the Sally Post - which I love... so I should get on that one right away!
I have a friend that has put a recipient NAME onto each of her UFOs, so when she is gone, each of her friends will know that she had thought enough of them to leave them a special project! That is an idea I might have to adopt.
If you figure out the key to not getting MORE projects to do, please let me know!

  8. Wow--I don't know if I could make a cute quilt like that and not remember it. But then, you have made so many very nice quilts.
How about "Potential Projects" for those "kitted" fabrics and patterns? I have a few of them myself, and I'm grateful to read this post and realize I don't have to consider them UFOs. That lightens my load a bit. : )

  9. So many lovely projects LuAnn. Which one will you start first is THE question I think. Won't be easy to choose. Good luck.

  10. I call them kits ... I've got a couple of kits that I was hoping to get to at my guild retreat in a couple of weeks, but I may still be piecing T#1's spiral log cabin. ha!

I can't wait to see what you've been sewing.

  11. You crack me up LuAnn - I've got lots of those plastic bag projects too! I think we should call them PIPS.
Projects In Planning Stage! Sounds very official and nothing we should feel guilty about.

  12. Now I have a 2 drawers filled with PIPS, TBD (to be done), HS (half started), PIWTD (Projects I want to Do) along with PIGS! I think we all do this.

    Your projects are neat.

  16. Well there are some really great projects in that box. I think I have that Sue Daly pattern which makes me want to start it now. No, I will chip away at the UFO list a bit more first.

  17. Oh LuAnn,

I like what Gay said, call them PIPS. We all have them!
All your projects turn out beautiful.

  18. I am happy to see that is not just me overloading the sewing room with fabrics..

  19. You sure have a lot of great kits from which to chose! I think sometimes you just have to pick one project and whittle away at it. When you get bored pack it up for a bit and work on something else and as I already said you have lots of really nice options!
