Little Halloween Quilts

Come on inside, and I'll show you the little Halloween quilts that I've decorated with.

I have two smiling lighted pumpkins on my front porch.  I don't want to scare the trick or treaters too much.

I have an orange wreath with spiders on the front door.

A garland of leaves is draped over my corner china cabinet with pumpkins on the shelf.  The cabinet was my Mom and Dads, and I love that there is a place for it in my new home.  On the table I have my Halloween Dresden Table Topper underneath the centerpiece of leaves and faux pumpkins.

Here is what it looks like.  The tutorial for the Halloween Dresden Table Topper can be found here.

On the island is the Halloween little quilt that I made from 1 1/2" half square triangles.

Here is a better look at it.  The half square triangles are made from charm squares.  You can get 8 of them from two charm squares.  Se my Halloween Little Quilt tutorial here.

On the back porch I have the On Point Quilt from Squares.

Here's a better look.  The tutorial can be found here and here.

All of these tutorials are also linked on my sidebar.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Halloween

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween at my house.  Here is the front outside flower bed decorated with ghosts, tombstones, lights and pumpkins.

I made my tomato cage ghosts the same as in the past.  You can find my tutorial HERE.

I have the ghosts lit with white lights, and the bushes are all orange.  It's pretty easy to find the white Christmas lights this time of year because a lot of stores have all of their Christmas decorations out.

One of the ghosts is made from a sheet.  I couldn't find another sheet here that was all white.......so I used a piece of my Kona cotton.  The faces are drawn on free hand with a permanent marker.

Here's how the tomato cage looks with the lights wrapped.  I also used tent stakes to hold the bottoms in the ground so they won't blow away.  You can pick those up in the camping department at most of the big box stores.  I also used big binder clips to hold the sheets onto the back of the tomato cages.  I did that after we had a big storm and the cages blew over and the sheets came off.

I've been doing a little sewing but have been working on other things lately.  More on that later.  I'll show you some of my other Halloween decorations in the next post.

I hope you're finding some time to stitch today.

EPP September Meeting

A couple of weeks ago our English Paper Piecing Addiction group met at Back Door Quilts.  Here are my show and tell photos:

This first quilt is Michelle's Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Stars.  I love this setting!

This is Michelle's Dresden Plate quilt.   I like this setting, too.  I like everything that Michelle does.

Here is another of her Dresden plate quilts with an on point setting.

This one was from a class that she took with Pat Sloan.

I love this Christmas table runner with fussy cut Santas and red pinwheel blocks for the border.  I'm sorry that I don't know the name of the quilter.

We show everything related to quilting at EPP.  This is an embroidered pillow.  I also don't know this person's name.

This is Sue Daley's Antique Sampler.

And Sue's basket quilt.  They were on loan to Back Door from Sue, and they were just ready to send them back to her.
Sue Daley is starting a new Jigsaw Club with paper pieces and directions for blocks.   These next two are Marti's blocks.  I love her fussy cutting.

One of the girls (I think Linda) is stitching this cute wall hanging.

This is Marlene's block from a Sue Daley pattern.  Her blue fabrics are just beautiful.

Linda and Terri had just been to a quilt show, so Linda did a little show and tell of the quilts that she was unpacking.

I missed the photo of the full quilt, but it looks great just like it is.  I love the bright Kaffe backing.

Jack's chain.  That one is on my bucket list.

These are just half square triangles set with tan fabrics.  I think the setting is interesting.

Cars - a cute children's quilt.

I love anything with nine patches.

This is a Sue Daley pattern called Cassie's Quilt.

English Paper Piecing is always fun and interesting and full of inspiration.
