Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter.  I meant to post this yesterday. I made this lamb cake for Easter dinner dessert.  The lamb pan was my mother-in-law's, and it brought back a lot of memories of past Easter dinners when she always made lamb cake.  My daughter decorated him.  We had so much fun making him that we kind of hated to cut into him.

I've been cutting fabric today for a few different projects.  Someone commented about the little quilt behind the lamb cake when I posted him on Facebook yesterday.  I'll get a better photo of the quilt and a tutorial in another post.  The little quilt is just something easy that I made up.

Meanwhile, I found a bag of 3 1/2" squares and decided I would make a few of the stars in Barbara Brackman's Stars in a Time Warm sew along.  Here is my first star.

I hope you find some time to do a little stitching today!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  1. Your lamb cake is precious. I also have the very same old mold, now passed down to my daughter, a far better baker than me. My 14-year-old gdau also loves to decorate it. Due to family illness we did not have the cake this year, so it was great to see yours. Which end do you start cutting first?

  3. My mom has the same mold. It was her mom's so it is over 70 years old. She makes a very dense chocolate cake in it. She brought one to dinner yesterday, but I did not get to photo it. I will pass it to my daughter who is an extraordinary baker. I chuckled when I saw yours!

  4. Nice star, Luann - I especially like the blue fabric in the center. Is this your Turkey Red one? I have completed a total of one, myself. Should be interesting and fun.

I dont think I could have cut into that precious little lamb ~ too cute!

  6. Never saw a cake like that...very cute. I think I have been reading your blog on and off for over five years now, and did not realize just how many quilts you have made....saw the slideshow on your sidebar. Wow! Some very beautiful quilts. Of course, I have had no less than about 50 blogs during that time, LOL.
    Enjoy your week.

  10. I love your star! I love quilts with stars and have been fighting the urge to join in the Time Warped fun ... I just don't know that my stash is stocked with all the right fabrics, so I'm enjoying doing it vicariously by watching you all do it.
