Loose Threads: The Eagle Has Landed

The Eagle Has Landed

The eagle has landed, and I've finished my version of the Ohio Collection quilt top.  My quilt top measures 74"X 93".  Most of my blocks are based on the Ohio Collection book by Anita Shackleford. Other blocks and ideas came from Album Quilts of Ohio's Miami Valley by Sue Cummings.

I finished the last 3 blocks last week.  My eagle is based on one I found in EQ5.  I made his wings two colored, and I used the shield from Anita's book.  I copied the shield onto foundation piecing paper, and paper pieced it using binding around the bottom part.

This is Turkey Tracks.

I love all of the little animals in the quilt.  I'd like to thank Karen from Log Cabin Quilter blog for doing the line drawings of the animals and shoe block and generously sharing them with the group. Here's my lamb:

Karen drew the lamb and rooster,

the shoe with flowers,

and Old Tom.

It was fun and challenging doing this quilt along with Karen, Lori, Cathy and Nancy.  I think all of us working on their blocks at the same time helped to keep me motivated.

In a couple of days, I'll tell you about our next group project.  Maybe you'll want to join us!

I hope you are finding some time to do some stitching today.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

It's beautiful LuAnn! You did a great job. Sometimes being sort of accountable to a group really does keep one motivated. A friend of mine and I often do the same thing. We actually get through projects that way. Take care.

Beatiful quilt! So much work has gone into all of those blocks and they look stunning as a collection.

Can you hear the applause? I am clapping and shouting as loud as I can. I am so happy for you that you got all the blocks completed and then sewn together. Your eagle turned out very good!
