Mostly Knitting

I haven't done a lot of quilting over the last month, but I have been doing a lot of knitting.  This Zick Zack scarf was on the needles for a few months, and I finished it.

This is my Colts scarf for this football season.  Whenever we score points I knit that number of rows in blue.  Whenever our opponent wins, I knit that number of rows in white.  You can see that we aren't having a winning season.   This is similar to the temperature scarves that a lot of knitters are making.

I started this scarf and am making it similar to the way the Colts scarf is made.  It's knit in the round forming a tube using leftover sock yarn.  Whenever I'm finished, I'll Kitchner Stitch the ends together.

This pair of socks was on the needles for well over a year.  I finished those and.....

I started and finished another pair.  The blue ones above are done with sock yarn on size 2 needles.  The pink ones below are done with heavier yarn on size 5 needles.  I've discovered a short row heel that I really like to use.

Here is the pair that I finished last week.  I really like wearing knit socks in the winter, so I have another two pair on the needles now.

I know this is mostly a quilt blog, but this explains part of my absence from blogging.  I thought you might like to see what I've been working on anyway.

I'm heading to Shipshewana to a quilt retreat.  I'll check in from there.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Loved your knitting trunk show! I'm busy with a couple of pairs of socks too, and I can't knit fast enough to get several cowls done that I'd love to wear this winter! I almost started a Panthers scarf but stopped myself just in time :-)

  4. Fun idea with your colts scarf. I will have to tell my knitting pals here in Nebraska (college team). about this, unfortunately their scarves would be mostly white this season.

  5. Beautiful yarn in your first scarf pictured on your blog. So many fun knitting projects going on - the Colts scarf idea is super! With 3 successive losts for our Green Bay Packers, not sure where I would be with green & gold yarn.

  6. Such beautiful knitting projects!
The Colts scarf is such a fun way to keep track of your team's year!
Very clever idea and the scarf itself looks beautiful (regardless what the outcome of the season will be)

  7. Lovely knitting LuAnn! You're going to be warm and toasty this winter with all those wonderful socks and scarves. I must try a scarf knitting it in the round. I bet that is kind of fun! Enjoy your retreat - lucky lady!

  8. So busy in knitting.

Winter is coming, and we will need a lot of socks and scarfs.
Your ZickZackScarf is wonderful. I love the colours. I will knit it once more, with two different colours changing every second row.

Wonderful idea, to knit a scarf in rounds to finish it joining as a loop.

    Greetings from Germany
