Party in Paducah!

My trip to Paducah was wonderful.  I saw so many things in such a short period of time that it is hard to remember them all.   Our quilt guild takes a bus trip leaving here early on Friday morning and returning Saturday around midnight so we are gone about 48 hours.  That includes stops at the Rotary Club which includes antique' quilts, Hoffman Challenge quilts, and of course, vendors.   We also made a stop at Eleanor Burns tent to see part of her show and to shop, and we visited the AQS Museum.   We eat three of our meals at different Paducah churches where there are.....you guessed it....more quilts.

Since we are on a schedule it is hard to see everything, take photos and document it so there aren't names or titles on these quilts.  The winning quilts with all of the information are posted on the AQS site, but here are a few of my photos.

This one won Best of Show.

Look at all the applique' on this one.

More applique'.  In my opinion there were probably more quilts with applique' than I've seen in a lot of shows.

An interesting mix of piecing and applique'.

You might have seen photos of this one in recent quilt magazines.  It has over 20,000 hexagons.

Love the borders on this one.

It would be hard to choose a favorite.

So many great designs that just pop.

This is another quilt made of all hexagons.

Aunt Millie's Garden with a different look.  The blue shading with the black and white applique' was striking.

Another amazing quilt.

These quilts are much better viewed in person.

The colors on this one just popped.

More beautiful applique'.

This one seemed to sparkle.

This quilt had a lot of broderie perse applique'.

These flowers were appliqued' with each petal done individually.  I couldn't find a photo of the entire quilt, but it was full size so you can imagine the number of those little red berries on the quilt.

I went back to this quilt for the third time to just look at it.  I'm not sure what it is about this one that kept drawing me back.  I think a lot of it is the secondary design created by the poison green fabrics with the navy blue sashing.

I took lots of photos of random things and lots of quilts on our trip, so I plan to keep posting some of them for the next few days for you to see.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  11. Stunning, amazing quilts. Thank you so much for sharing them! I agree that the red/black/white quilt does appear to sparkle. Cool! I think the last quilt, the one you went back to see more than once, was made by Lori of Humble Quilts blog. Sure looks similar to the one she made.
Ahhhhh -- they're all so lovely!
