Starting Phebe

I've started working on the Phebe quilt by Di Ford.  I've had the pattern for awhile now, and at the retreat I went on in Shipshewana, IN, in April I discovered that two friends there were also collecting fabrics for the quilt.  We are having fun looking for the fabrics and mailing them back and forth to each other.

We are trying to collect fabrics to make our quilts look as much like the original quilt as possible.  I got a little anxious and started working on my center block.  The top, bottom and sides of the vase are not appliqued' yet because there are pieces that go underneath.

The original hill fabric is from the Chelsea Boutique line, but I settled for this piece of Buggy Barn fabric (above).   Then this afternoon in my Christmas fabric stash, I found the one in the photo below.   So I may start over or switch to this fabric.

This will be another long term project but it has been a lot of fun so far.

I hope you are finding some time to stitch today.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  3. Very nice start, beautiful vase fabric. The hill is the right color, but the second fabric has that older reproduction look, can you change it out without starting completely over? Either fabric will look good with the sheep and other appliques on it. Great quilt to be working on!

  5. Any quilt by Di Ford catches my attention, and I stop my blog hopping for a while. Unfortunately, I've only seen photos of her quilts online, here and there. I would love to see some in person some day. Bravo for the decision to begin this one. It'll be a challenge but worth every single stitch.

  17. I think we are having just as much fun searching for the fabrics as we are stitching the fabrics. Every Time we find the fabric, we just want to celebrate
