I just got back in town this evening from helping my daughter pack some of her things in preparation to move. She has just finished her Masters Degree in Statistics from Purdue University and will be staying with us for awhile while she is job hunting.
Before I left to go help her pack, I did a bit of Christmas decorating. I finished machine quilting this Christmas Present wall hanging, and just finished sewing the hanging sleeve on before I left. This is the Charming Christmas Present Wall Hanging that I showed and gave cutting instructions for in this post. The link to the instructions is also listed in Tutorials and Patterns on my sidebar.
The angel in the photo above was made by my Mom when she did ceramics. I'm so glad to have these things to remember her by to display at Christmas.
I love this Flurry fabric by Kate Spain.
I quilted an all over paisley design on this wall hanging.
UPDATE: Go over to Jeanne's blog, Luv2Stitch, and look at these three friends that I met years ago in Shipshewana. They have each made their own Christmas Present Wall Hangings. Wow! They are all wonderful!
Christmas Eve is a week from tonight, and there is still an awful lot to do. I'm hoping to get a lot done this coming week.
I'll write a tutorial for how to make a hanging sleeve and sew it onto the back of a wall hanging or quilt soon.
Thanks for visiting.
I hope you are prepared for Christmas and have time to do some stitching.
I am not going to get this quilt or my Rocky Mountain Christmas finished for this season. I have to tell myself I have a head start on them for next year.So I am turning my attention to a few mini quilts in the hopes that they will be doable this year.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks wonderful. I'm glad you showed the close-up of your quilting. To me deciding what pattern to quilt is very challenging. I like this one in the paisley design.
Congrats to DD, and good luck with the job hunt! I love the quilting that you did on your presents. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI started this quilt but not with the Flurry line of fabrics. My misc Christmas fabrics look a bit drab, compared to yours. Your quilt is made with the perfect fabrics. Mine will some day be made with OK fabrics.
ReplyDeleteCongrat's to your DD re: her degree. Positive thoughts sent her way re: the job search.
I see you've decided to build houses from scraps. I'm tempted--very tempted. But one a day for a year? That would be a push for me. I have too many WIP. Maybe I'll just watch you. :)
I'm in LOVE with your quilt! Also, I'd love the hanging sleeve tute :)
ReplyDeleteStunning LuAnn.....
ReplyDeleteJust love it!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully! and looks lovely on your wall!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll enjoy having your daughter around, although I'm sending my very best wishes that she can get a wonderful new job soon!
LuAnn - it turned out absolutely gorgeous! Your quilting looks fabulous - I love it. This one will definitely be going on my list of quilts to make.
ReplyDeleteLove the Presents Quilt. Hope to make it for next year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting LuAnn
This is such a fun, pretty quilt. It looks so cheerful there. My mom did ceramics also and it is the Christmas pieces I still love to get out. Enjoy your daughter's time at home and Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so cheerful. I was going to make the smaller version but decided to sew the bigger present quilt. The top is finished....woohoo.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.
This is SUCH a cute quilt and your quilting perfectly accents your nice piecing. Have a wonderful Christmas season!
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
Your quilt looks fantastic hanging on your wall!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is wonderful, you must be so glad to have finished it in time for Christmas. The ceramic angel is beuatiful, what a gorgeous piece.
ReplyDeleteLuAnn, love this pattern, your fabric choices, and your quilting! Wow! Nice!
ReplyDeleteVery nice LuAnn, and I love the very special angel too...
ReplyDeleteJane
Bautiful and you did a fabulous job quilting it!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt. I think this is such a happy quilt. My quilt group had a Christmas raffle and I won 16 blocks to make this quilt. I downloaded the pattern and will be making more blocks to make it bigger. This will be one quilt I work on soon but not yet. I'm still doing Christmas sewing and can't work on this one yet. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour presents quilt turned out wonderful. Love the ceramic angel by your Mom displayed by it. Good luck to your daughter on her job hunt. I made the presents quilt in Flurry too but have not had time to quilt it yet. That's what I get for having too many irons in the fire! :) I'm off to check out your friends' quilts. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!! Love it! The quilting is perfect!
