New Weekend Purchases

A friend of mine who is an awesome quilter has a husband that does beautiful woodworking.  I posted some photos of their house and her quilts a few posts ago.  I asked him to make me a couple of quilt racks, and I just picked them up on Saturday afternoon.

This one is a free standing rack made of oak.  The green quilt is my Nearly Insane called Lime Phosphate.  The other one is my mini nine patch called It's Just A Nine Patch.  The nine patches in that quilt finish at 1 1/2".
This quilt rack is also oak, but it's a ladder.  I know you can see that.  I really like the other quilt rack, but I am just in love with this ladder.  I think maybe that's because you can move it around all over the place.

The top quilt is Fall Foilage Spectacular from the Judy Martin book Cookies 'n Quilts.  The next quilt is a round robin from 2005 (I think).  Several of the girls in that round robin are in the one I'm in now.  They all do a great job!!!  The bottom quilt is my Dear Jane signature quilt from 2002.  I signed on the Dear Jane list in 2001 and just missed that swap, so I couldn't wait until the one in spring of 2002 so I could sign up.
Most of these quilts have been either in a cabinet or folded up in a pile, so it's so nice to have them out where we can enjoy them every day.  Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you are finding some time to stitch today.  I did and I've finished a new quilt top.  As soon as I take a photo, I'll post it.  More soon.

  1. What a fun way to enjoy your quilts. That nearly insane is amazing.

  2. Love ladders. Your quilts look lovely displayed on the new racks. Not bad for a weekend purchase. Thanks for sharing.

  3. What a wonderful way to hang your quilts, the ladder is awesome as well as the rack...lucky you!

  4. Wonderful quilts you show on your new rack. You are very busy and all your quilts are so beautiful. Thanks for showing.
Have an nice day and many greetings from Germany

  5. I want those racks!!!! I have my quilts in a cabinet it it makes me sad. :( I am going to make it a mission to find someone here to make me some kind of hanger.

OK, I need to see that Insane quilt. Actually, I need to see ALL of your quilts. They are GORGEOUS! I will have to look back in your blog and hope to find them.

  6. Lovely display..I am so jealous! Of course, most of my quilts are at home with relatives right now....

  7. Your quilts look great adorning your home. I have a nine patch that is 1 1/2 inches. I joined the Nine Patch Nuts when I was on the Dear Jane list.

You will get lots of pleasure from your quilt racks.

  8. LuAnn, wonderful quilts! I really like the Nearly Insane in green. That is a lot of piecing! I also like the way you shaded the siggie blocks for the Dear Jane signatures and the close-ups were nice to see some of the detail. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Your quilts look wonderful on the rack and ladder. Great workmanship on both the quilts and the woodwork.
