Today I sewed the last of the outside borders on my Dear Jane quilt. Now I have to decide whether to hand quilt her or have her machine quilted. Either way I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Here are just some random photos of groups of blocks that I took. The green circle block is called Indianapolis. Papa's Star right below is one of the more difficult blocks IMHO.
The one in the center below is Nan's Niiad. We call her Nasty Nan because of how hard she is to do. Some quilters leave her out and substitute another block.
Here are a few of the triangles. When you are making this quilt don't save all of the triangles until last. Ask me how I know.
I hope you are finding some time to stitch today.
That is AWESOME! What a lot of work THAT was! I just love these Dear Jane quilts, and yours is fantastic!

Wow, what an amazing accomplishment. Hand quilting would give you lots of time to admire your handiwork. Do you have another major quilt in mind for your next project? Midget blocks are a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of your Dear Jane. It is lovely. You should be really proud of yourself.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, LuAnn! Your Jane is gorgeous! I see another goddess crowning in the near future.
ReplyDeletewow, it is stunning. I just admire those of you that have tackled this quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour Dear Jane is gorgeous! Oh, I know the pain (and the glory! LOL) of putting her together. I've got my triangle borders ready to go on (although I only did plain fabric triangles -- no piecing or appliqueing for me because I plan to hand-quilt the designs on those triangles)...gotta find time to do it! Scroll down on my blog to see mine, and thanks sooo much for sharing yours!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Yea, LuAnn!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
You put me to shame! I am looking forward to seeing the quilt and you crowned in the DJ Goddess Tiara in November!
If it were my DJ quilt I would hand-quilt it, but there again you know me I hand applique, hand-quilt and hand-piece, so what else would I suggest :-))
best wishes

Gorgeous LuAnn! I'm so glad you stopped by my page to tell me you posted pictures!! What fantastic work!
ReplyDeleteLove the Dear Jane quilt....I've been wanting to do one myself, but I'm trying to be very good and finish all the projects I have start already or at least get the quilt tops done first before starting a new project.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job on the quilt!
What a beauty! Congrats on a great finish!
ReplyDeleteYour Baby Jane is turning out great! The quilting question is a hard one but you'll figure it out one way or another :)
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is so beautiful....you are quite talented! I am very new at quilting, but I have been sewing almost all of my life. I can't wait to see it completed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful DJ quilt! I love the darker background fabric you used....it really makes the blocks "pop"....
ReplyDeleteUh oh I haven't been making my triangles along with my blocks on my JanieBright that I'm working on now...I know I should, but they just don't thrill me like the little blocks.
WOW!! LuAnn your Dear Jane is gotgeous and I have just looked at the quilts you have made and thier are all just amazing. What wonderful work you do.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, LuAnn. Your Dear Jane is so beautiful! Please tell me you heard drums beating and horns blowing and some quilting celebrity was at your front door to offer you the keys to the quilting kingdom when you finished your last stitches. That is only thing that is keeping me motivated to continue mine. I know there is some special prize at the end. Right???
ReplyDeleteWaooooooW!!! I admire you for realizing a Dear jane quilt:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! How inspiring!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! That is GORGEOUS!!!!! You are making me want to get my Jane out of hiding.
