I had planned to do several posts from the Paducah Quilt Show, but the phone charger I had with me didn't work and my battery power was soon gone. I also started getting sick on the trip and have come home with a full blown head cold. Today is the first day since I got home that I haven't wanted to just sleep.
As most of you know, we have had a lot of rain here in the midwest. The Paducah Convention Center where the quilt show is usually held is right on the Ohio River. I heard different stories while I was there. One person said that the quilts were already hung in the convention center and had to be moved. But, the show was held in several places around town. The people that put this show together did an amazing job of pulling it all together. Part of the vendors and quilts were in a vacant Circuit City building and another store that was vacant. One of the locals told me that a team came in and painted, cleaned carpets, and rewired the buildings so there would be adequate lighting on the quilts. Another part of the show was in what they called The Big Marshmallow. It looked like one of those bounce houses at a carnival only many times larger.
Here is a photo from the bus window BEFORE we got to the river. The river is really high and out of its banks. Notice the billboard way in the back of the photo.
Here is the Ohio River as we crossed over.
We ate most of our meals in different churches. The people there were so wonderful, and the food was fantastic. And, each church had a quilt display for us to enjoy while we ate. Here are some of my favorites:
A beautiful flower garden. I had this one in the previous post, but this photo is more clear. I just loved this one. This would take a few One Flower Wednesdays to complete this one!
A beautiful applique'.
I love the red and white quilts especially the nine patch.
I have lots of photos of the quilts from the show. I'm still working my way through them to crop out people as much as possible and to tweak the photos, but here are some from the beginning of our trip. More soon, I promise.
Hope you are all finding some time to stitch! Thanks for visiting.

The flood gates are holding back the water, but you can see it is starting to come in underneath.
