I have a few quilt tops that I really want to finish. OK. Well, there's really more than a few. The photo isn't too clear, but if it looks like this is a laundry basket overflowing with quilt tops......well you're right.
A few months ago I took everything out of this basket (and the other big Rubbermaid container full of quilt tops that I have) and took photos of each one. I was going to put every one of those photos on my blog under the UFO tab above but decided I couldn't live with the embarrassment. So there are a few photos there but most of the things that are in the basket are things you've never seen.
I've basted a few, and I'm going to try and finish quilting and binding them and then baste a few more. Here are my first two finishes:

These two little quilts are place mat size and are from the book, Little Quilts All Through the House by Alice Berg, Mary Ellen Von Holt, and Sylvia Johnson. That book is copyrighted 1993, so I imagine these two little quilts could be about that old. That really doesn't sound that bad until you do the math.
I love making and starting new things, but I am going to try hard to keep up the finishing momentum.
Hope you are all stitching just a little today. Thanks for stopping by!!!
we must have the same taste in quilts...I have a little flag too...
ReplyDeleteI have always intended to make several more of the little quilts, actually, I just remembered I also made the little house too...
I know we all fret about the number of UFOs we have, but imagine how bored we would be if we only had one project to think about at a time. Glad you were able to cross some quilts off your list though, it makes room for new projects!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing these projects as you share them. I love your quilts and these little flags are no exception!
ReplyDeleteYay! Two finishes! They are adorable. Don't be too hard on yourself about the unquilted tops - at least you finished the tops!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good start! I'd love to see the contents of both baskets! At least you have them in one spot. I'll be watching for more finishes.
ReplyDeleteWhat great finishes! Lovely little quilts.
ReplyDeleteI love the patriotic quilts....well...all of your quilts....
ReplyDeleteMany endurance. They are very beautiful.
ReplyDeletecute quilts , oh I love that book! hey tops are good!
ReplyDeletesometimes we are just too hard on ourselves, I have quite afew little quilt tops to hand quilt and yes I keep making more!
I would rather do what I feel like doing each day rather then what I HAVE To do.
when I feel like hand quilting I hand quilt, when I feel like piecing I piece a quilt top!
LOL
its ok! looking forward to winter, get rid of this heat and I hand quilt a lot more in winter!
Kathie
Those flag quilts are just darling!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on checking 2 more quilts off of your UFO list.
Nice to see your little quilts and happy for you that you got to cross them off your list. Looking forward to seeing more wonderful finishes!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt tops are so pretty, the redwork Santa, roll roll cotton boll and Kim McLean are my favorites. The little flag quilts are cute also, and a finish is a finish - no matter the size.
ReplyDeleteYou are making progress in the right direction! I know what you mean about feeling embarrassed by the pile of UFO's...I could never fess up to the volume at my place!
