I've been machine quilting another UFO. As soon as I get the binding hand stitched, I'll post a photo of another finish.
This is continuous bias binding, and I found a quick and easy way to make it. I'm working on a tutorial to post in a day or two so you can see how to make it step by step. I really like making bias binding from striped fabric because it looks like the stripes wrap right around the edge of the quilt.
I started with a 36" square of fabric. I cut my binding at 2 1/4" wide, and I ended up with a bit over 15 yards of binding.
I've been spending a lot of time working on my border for the next round robin that I have. Here is a bit of one of the blocks.
Stay tuned for my continuous bias binding tutorial.
I hope you are finding some time to stitch.

Hi LuAnn,
ReplyDeleteI like the first picture you posted because it shows a lot of interesting things: the binding you made, a cookbook, the quilt underneath and your granny in the backround. Everyghing is really pretty!

Hurry with the tutorial please LuAnn....I've got several quilts to make bias binding for and I need an easier way to do it than what I currently do.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little Dresden!
I LOVE stripes on the diagonal...I look forward to your tutorial! That dresden plate teaser looks very interesting...can't wait to see more. I'm still ruminating on your cute, bright bow ties...
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
I am looking forward to your bias binding tutorial. I recently made some bias binding for the first time and it was a pain! There has to be a better way and I am sure you will show us how!!
ReplyDeleteI also cant wait to see the tutorial. The stripe fabric will make a gorgeous binding. I have purchased a few stripes just for this purpose also.
ReplyDeleteI love striped binding, as well, though I can rarely find stripes that match my quilts. I am excited to see a Christmas quilt, which it seems you are binding.
ReplyDeleteYour little Dresden Plate block is sure cute!
I love fun bindings - it's the final touch. Although I've been doing a few knife edges lately.
ReplyDeleteStripes are fabulous choices.
You know, I've been quilting for over 10 years and have NEVER learned the continuous bias binding. I know, bad bad bad. However, I have attempted it once. And I felt like I used a LOT of extra fabric that I did not need to use. So if it's not a fabric waster, I might just try it again. Cannot wait to see what your post is about~thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind of binding, diagonal stripes. Can't wait for your tutorial.
