It's been a long week here. The heat has been excessive, and there is no end in sight. I saw our thermometer go as high as 106 degrees a few days ago. We lost internet and phone for about 24 hours. The repairman said that it was probably too hot in our garage for the router boxes so he replaced a few connectors, and we were up and running again. Before I could get on the internet a storm blew through with lots of wind and very little rain, and we lost power for a few hours. Somewhere before that the motor in my vacuum cleaner burned up.
All of that means that there was a lot more time to sew and crochet.
I finished this quilt top last week. There are 2,080 pieces.

This is truly a random scrappy quilt and really not my cup of tea.
With the blocks that I had left, I made a small table topper.
I also stitched these crocheted granny squares together and have the borders almost finished.
I have my flag table toppers and my red, white and blue knit dishcloth ready for our barbeque tomorrow.
Happy July 4th. Have fun and be safe.
Thanks for stopping by today!
The quilt is pretty. I would probably do an all-over design since the fabric is busy and the quilting won't really show so much. What kind of yarn is your crochet afghan? I really like it! It's been hot here too. I've seen on the weather reports how Indy had a few storms blow through. Happy 4th to you!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt top is beautiful! I love the little table topper too! And your afghan is so pretty! You've been busy! :0)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have both those projects put together already, and without power for a bit! The scrap quilt turned out great, I love it when scraps go together so well. Lovely afghan also. Stay Cool!
ReplyDeleteI love your scrappy top!
ReplyDeleteLovely afghan and Happy 4th to you!
Hi Lu-Ann,
ReplyDeleteyour scrappy quilt is right up my ally, I think it is great!
Also like your tablemats, have a nice 4th of July!
KATRIN W.
I DO love your Scrappy Quilt and table topper..
ReplyDeleteLovely Afghan.
Have a very Happy 4th of July.
Quilt top is absolutely stunning!!!! I love all the fabrics!! You did a wonderful job making the colors shine in a gorgeous scrappy quilt! Afghan is also a work of art!!! Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL...love the colors< too!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to you and your family.
:) Carolyn
That's a lot of pieces in that quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe flags look like they might be a good size for place mats. Would make a festive 4th of July set.
Beautifully scrappy quilt. When the quilting design will be swallowed by the busy pattern, I vote for an all-over design, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat flag table-toppers!
What a pretty, cool-looking afghan.
Nice job on all of your many projects, LuAnn!
You are on a roll! I vote for simple meander on the quilt, lots of work won't show anyway. Glad you are getting so much done.
ReplyDeleteEven though it's not your style - you did a great job. I love all the pink in there - that just makes it for me. And since the design is so strong, I think an overall would work just fine.
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous finishes. Super. Love the afghan. Such pretty colors, especially the final border you are putting on.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of the excessive heat and power failures. Hope all is ok now.
Happy 4th.
Your scrap quilt might not be your cup of tea but it certainly is mine. It's gorgeous. I got goosebumps looking at it... no kidding. Love your Granny Afgan too. You are tempting me to try to make my own.....naughty!
ReplyDeleteHope the 4th July was amazing for you and yours.
I really like it, the cream/white really puts a shine throughout the quilt. It will be a beauty quilted!
ReplyDeleteSo many sweet projects here, I like those flag pieces, too ~
:-}pokey
I love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteLuAnn, I can't believe you've got that afghan done already!
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy top looks marv too! I suppose if I got busy I'd have something done, too, but I did get 2 stacks of old magazines reviewed and pages torn out and the pile recycled. For me that's progress. Hard to show a full color picture that looks impressive, though.:)
OH MY! OH MY! I think your scrappy quilt is just toooo FABULOUS! The scrappiness is a delight! Maybe you will love it more after you quilt it. Since it is so busy, an overall simple design with the quilting would be good.
ReplyDeleteCute afghan too!
Ooooooo!!!!!! That quilt may not be your cup of tea, but it's so absolutely scraptapulous!!!! I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteHave you jumped into the quilting yet? With such scrappiness, a simple edge-to-edge overall meander or pantograph seems to make sense.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!! FABULOUS FINISH!
Love your afghan! Beautiful colors!
