This is the quilt that I pieced from the little tumbler kit that I won a couple of weeks ago from Kathy at Inspired by Antique Quilts blog. I added just a couple of tumblers from my own stash to finish out the final row. I hand pieced the tumblers together because it seemed easier to line them up and almost as fast as machine sewing them. The border is machine sewn onto the tumblers.
This gives you an idea of the size of each piece. The tumblers finish about 1 1/4" tall, and I plan to hand quilt them.

Adorable quilt.
ReplyDeleteLuAnn, so tiny and so darn gorgeous, I do like that black border..
ReplyDeleteI have been looking forward to seeing this put together. It is a wonderful seasonal beauty. The colors really stand out against the dark border. I think I would want to leave it out all year. : )
ReplyDeleteI was happy when I saw that you were the winner. When you said you were going to hand piece them I wondered if you would find it easier or harder to line up the edges by hand. The first time I did a tumbler--years ago--I really struggled lining them up. Now I think I finally have the hang of it.
love it with the border, looks great. I am so happy to see your little quilt, love the borders.
ReplyDeleteI am still debating borders or not! I should get on that today!

I love this! so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI started collecting fabrics for my fall quilt, I keep looking at your photo and working out what colours to buy.
Stitching today? that will be hand quilting a single bed size quilt, 1" hexagons hand pieced over papers.
Oh its so beautiful LuAnn...those colors!! absolutly adorable littl quilt!! greetings Francien.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of fall colors. Tiny little quilts are not only adorable, but also quick to put together.
ReplyDeleteWow. Great colors, and I love the dark border. I machined stitched a piece with mini tumblers, and it took a lot of ripping before I figured out how to line them up. Mine will be framed, and just needs some final touches. Maybe this week? Can't wait to see yours quilted.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! And oh my goodness those tumblers are tiny!
