This is the start of my quilt from the Ohio Collection quilt book by Anita Shackleford. I'm also using the Album Quilts of Ohio's Miami Valley as inspiration for this quilt and to replace some of the blocks from the original quilt. The original quilt has 12 log cabin blocks sewn together in groups of 4. I've ended up making 10 blocks because that was the number of centers that I cut. I'm not sure if I will use all of them in the finished quilt.
I first saw this quilt on Karen and Lori's blogs. They have started their quilts so I decided to join in.

I did the applique' on the flower below on the bus trip to the Chicago Quilt Show.
I made the Drunkard's Path block on the left first and decided I couldn't live with it in this quilt, so it is in my bag of orphan blocks. I like the all blue block much better with the rest of the blocks.
Some of these blocks are pretty large, but I think part of the charm of this quilt is the different size and variety of the blocks. I might remake some of the stars and do two smaller blocks instead of one larger one. Not sure yet.
Here are the two books that I'm using for inspiration.
I hope you are finding some time to stitch today!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Gorgeous start to what will be I am sure a lovely finish! Hugs, Julierose
